Whether there is a need for connecting metro, regional or national sites — or a combination of all three — wholesale Ethernet services can help to deliver a network flexible enough to run large, diverse applications securely and efficiently. One name that comes to mind in this context is Consolidated Communications, Inc. (CCI) is a leading broadband and business communications provider serving businesses of all sizes, and wireless companies and carriers, across a 23-state service area. Leveraging its advanced fiber optic network spanning more than 36,000 fiber route miles, CCI offers a wide range of communications solutions, including data, internet, voice, managed and hosted, cloud and IT services to business customers, and internet, TV, phone and home security services to residential customers.

Switched Ethernet WAN and Dedicated Ethernet services from CCI provide high-bandwidth connectivity for site-to-site networks, business continuity, data center, storage, convergence applications, LAN extension, and Internet access. CCI’s Managed Ethernet Local Area Network (E-LAN) is an affordable, flexible solution that can address the needs of growing businesses while Managed Ethernet Line (E-Line) is a scalable, dedicated business-class connection to the firm’s private fiber network that can be configured for point-to-point and point-to-multipoint applications. The data is routed over CCI’s private network — not the public Internet — providing business with better performance and added security. With multiple classes of service over a single Ethernet Virtual Connection (EVC), users can prioritize their traffic and enhance their class and quality of service.

With Managed E-LAN and E-Line, clients can focus on their core business and let CCI handle ongoing monitoring and management of WAN and LAN routing and switching environments. Managed E-LAN and E-Line include configuration and installation of equipment, proactive trouble-ticketing, and robust reporting capabilities. As a Managed E-LAN and E-Line customer, clients also get access to CCI’s managed services portal and dashboard tools, which enable them to monitor bandwidth usage, performance, and latency. CCI offers two Managed E-LAN solutions — Ethernet Private Local Area Network (EPLAN) and Ethernet Virtual Private Local Area Network (EVPLAN) and two Managed E-Line solutions — an Ethernet Private Line (EPL) and Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL).

Ethernet service from CCI combines the privacy, security, diversity, and highspeed bandwidth of private line service with the simplicity and affordability of an Ethernet interface, which gives users a cost-effective network solution designed to meet their transport requirements. CCI Ethernet service provides high-speed bandwidth over its Layer 2 network. This enables reliable transport of very large application data sets, such as large CAD files, digital images or video streams, while supporting multiple high-bandwidth applications across the network, including teleconferencing, business continuity and disaster recovery, and media-rich content distribution.

CCI stands behind the service and backs it with a rigorous service level agreement, delivered over a core network with 99.999 percent availability while low latency and low packet loss ensure data integrity. Clients get the performance they pay for without connecting to the open Internet or sharing bandwidth at peak usage times with neighboring businesses. Switched Ethernet can be easily integrated with additional data and voice applications. Clients can run voice and data on a single network. CCI also offers Layer 2 control protocol support. Users can easily adjust bandwidth from 3 Mbps to 10 Gbps or more to get data at the speed of their business requirements. CCI offers a lower cost-per-Mbps than legacy frame or ATM while Class of Service (CoS) and Quality of Service (QoS) agreements enhance traffic’s prioritization on CCI’s network to provide higher service level metrics for critical applications. CCI holds Carrier Ethernet 2.0 certifications from the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) for Ethernet Private Line, Ethernet Virtual Private Line, and Ethernet Access services.
